Denim chore jacket with olive fatigue pants
Why it works
Indigo and olive give this look two distinct colors without needing a bright accent. The cream henley interrupts their darker depths and brings a small vertical button line beneath the jacket. Fatigue pockets sit flatter than the cargo pockets used in W04, which makes the silhouette more restrained even though both looks draw on utility clothing. Brown derbies reinforce that quieter approach at the feet. The jacket can remain open to show the henley, or close over it without creating much neck bulk. Reuse the olive pants with the white tee from S08 for a simpler warm-weather outfit. Their flat pockets remain the distinguishing feature, so keep bags and additional pocketed layers to a minimum around the hips.

The proportions
Get the fit right.
The jacket should end near the hip rather than falling over most of the fatigue pockets. Keep the henley placket within the visible opening; unfastening one or two buttons is enough if the neckline feels crowded. Check that the pants sit securely at the waist so their front pockets stay flat. A straight leg can make one light fold over the derby, with the rear hem clear of the heel. Avoid an excessively narrow ankle opening that changes the fatigue silhouette into a tapered jogger.
Your wardrobe, your version
Make it yours.
- Use a tan jacket and cream sneakers to make the same olive pants feel lighter and more weekend-oriented.
- Replace the henley with a blue Oxford and keep the derbies for a more collared interpretation of the denim jacket.
- Reuse the fatigue pants with a white tee and black low sneakers; leave both the jacket and extra accessories aside.
