Textured jacket with a navy rollneck and grey pleats
Why it works
The textured jacket works best when the layers around it are plain. Navy gives the center enough depth to separate from the brown surface, and grey pleats contribute shape without another conspicuous pattern. Brown boots repeat the outer layer’s warmth at the feet. This is the texture-led alternative to P01: the jacket, rather than the trousers, carries the more intricate surface. Keeping those roles separate avoids making every garment compete for attention. Reuse the grey trousers with the field jacket from W11 for a less academic version of the same base. In winter, consider this an indoor or layering formula until you have checked the actual jacket weight and conditions; a tweed-like appearance does not establish warmth.

The proportions
Get the fit right.
Check the jacket with the rollneck underneath so its sleeves and upper back remain comfortable. The neck should fold softly rather than pressing against the lower jaw. Leave the jacket open if fastening it makes the lapels bow away from the chest. Pleated trousers need enough room at the seat for their folds to close when standing. Let the hem cover the boot shaft while keeping the toe visible. A controlled break preserves the tailored line; multiple stacked folds can make the textured top feel heavier than intended.
Your wardrobe, your version
Make it yours.
- Use an ecru rollneck and brown derbies when you want a brighter center with the same textured jacket.
- Swap the grey trousers for dark straight jeans to make the jacket useful beyond tailored evening outfits.
- Reuse the navy rollneck beneath a camel overcoat with brown trousers for a longer silhouette and fewer visible texture changes.
