ADWYSD’s weather-map CLIMACOOL is a reminder to separate graphics from function

A collaboration can evoke the forecast without being rainwear. The new adidas and ADWYSD collection provides a useful example of that distinction.

The verified release

adidas and Always Do What You Should Do announced a collection featuring two CLIMACOOL 1 versions, a flip-flop and a grey tracksuit, dated for October 28. Weather-map graphics run through the range; the announcement distinguishes the two sneaker constructions.

Read the construction, too

A weather-themed print does not establish waterproofing. Mesh, openings, linings and care instructions matter when choosing footwear for rain. Do not transfer a technical claim from one version to another just because their names are similar.

Use the forecast as a constraint

In the weather outfit tool, enter the actual conditions before choosing a silhouette. Keep an indoor styling option separate from footwear for a wet commute. The styling appeal and the practical requirement can be assessed together without treating them as identical.
